About the event

A marathon for readers who love Basheer

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer — the Beypore Sultan — wrote stories that felt like life itself: raw, funny, heartbreaking, and human. This bookathon is a structured reading challenge to experience his greatest works together, as a community, over 42 days.

What is a Bookathon?

Like a running marathon, but for readers. You receive a curated list of books, start on the same day as everyone else, and race (at your own pace) to finish all of them within 42 days.

How is completion verified?

After finishing each book, you complete a short quiz (10–12 questions). Our team may also call you for a friendly 5-minute conversation about the book. No cheating — only real readers finish.

Who is this for?

Anyone who loves Malayalam literature, wants to read Basheer seriously for the first time, or is looking for a structured reading community. Students, professionals, and book lovers welcome.

What do you get?

You will get the official reading schedule, a suggested pace guide (one book every 7 days), and your participant welcome email with quiz access links.

Read, complete, verify

After finishing each book, fill in the short verification quiz. Our team may call you for a 5-minute book chat. Both methods ensure only genuine readers qualify.

Finish all 6 and collect your medal

Complete all 6 books before September 11th and you earn the Beypore Sultan Bookathon finisher medal, your personalised certificate, and a place on our Hall of Readers.
