Kerala's reading marathon platform

Reading is a
habit.
We make it one.

Bookathon turns reading into a structured challenge — with goals, community, and real rewards that make finishing a book feel like crossing a finish line.

📚
42 days
Structured reading window per marathon — long enough to go deep, short enough to stay focused
🏅
Real medals
Every finisher earns a printed medal and certificate — because finishing a book deserves recognition
🐐
The goat medal
Our finisher symbol — a goat devouring a book. Because the best readers eat books whole

Why Bookathon works

Reading backed by
behavioural science

We borrowed the psychology of running marathons and applied it to books. It works for the same reasons.

01

Clear goals
drive action

Ambiguous intentions fail. "I want to read more" doesn't work. "I will finish Balyakalasakhi by August 12th" does. Bookathon gives you a specific target on day one.

Goal-setting theory

02

Rewards build
lasting habits

A tangible medal activates the brain's reward circuit in ways that digital badges don't. When you hold a finisher medal, your brain encodes reading as an identity, not a task.

Reward psychology

03

Community keeps
you accountable

People who commit to goals publicly are significantly more likely to follow through. When you register for a bookathon, you join a visible community of readers on the same path.

Social commitment

Reading is a sport.
Train like one.

Every marathon runner has a training plan, a race day, and a medal at the finish line. We gave readers the same structure.

🎯
Set your reading target
One book every 7 days. A clear pace guide from day one.
📖
Track your progress
Log each book. Watch your reading streak build over 42 days.
Verify completion
A short quiz after each book. Proof that you read it, not just held it.
🏅
Earn the reward
A real printed medal. Something to show. Something to keep.

How it works

Four steps to
becoming a finisher

Step 01

Pick your marathon & register

Choose a bookathon, register, and receive your official reading kit — book list, pace guide, and quiz access.

Step 02

Follow the reading schedule

One book every 7 days. The pace guide keeps you on track without pressure. You start on the same day as everyone else.

Step 03

Complete each book & verify

After each book, take a short 10-question quiz. Our team may also call for a friendly 5-minute book chat.

Step 04

Earn your finisher medal

Complete all books before the deadline. Receive your printed medal, certificate, and a place on the Hall of Readers.

What you earn

Every reader wins.
Finishers win more.

👕

Official T-shirt

Every registrant gets the official Bookathon t-shirt with the goat emblem. Yours from day one.

🐐

Finisher Medal

A real printed medal for every reader who completes all books — the goat that devoured them all.

📜

Certificate

A personalised finisher certificate — digital and print-ready, for readers who want proof they did it.

"

എല്ലാ മനുഷ്യരും ഒരു തരത്തിൽ ഭ്രാന്തന്മാരാണ്. ഭ്രാന്തില്ലാത്തവർ ഭ്രാന്തന്മാരാണ്.

— Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, Beypore Sultan

Community

You don't read alone
in a bookathon

💬

A shared reading experience

Every participant in a bookathon starts on the same day and reads the same books. The conversations that happen — about the same pages, the same characters — are unlike any book club.

📊

Track your reading identity

Each completed bookathon adds to your reader profile. Over time, your reading history becomes a record of the literary worlds you've lived in.
